Let go of what no longer serves you and step into 2026 with clarity and heart.
"It shows you what is truly important in life, how we are all connected to one another, the planet, all living things, and that everything comes from an infinite flowing river of love."
Perhaps you've been noticing that traditional celebrations leave you feeling empty. Maybe you're seeking a more meaningful way to step into 2026—one rooted in deep intention, clarity, and authentic connection to your true self.
You want to work with a team trained in somatic, trauma-informed plant medicine facilitation. You need to feel safe enough to go deep with the medicine.
You've been living in your head and are ready to drop into your body's wisdom and experience the profound heart-opening that San Pedro offers.
You understand the importance of spacious time to process and integrate before returning home. You want the medicine to settle properly in your nervous system.
Huachuma (San Pedro), scientifically known as Echinopsis pachanoi, is a sacred cactus that has been revered as plant medicine for over 3,000 years in Peru. Growing in the high altitudes of the Andes mountains, this powerful cactus has been used by South American peoples for millennia.
The name Huachuma comes from the Quechua language and translates to "removing the head"—symbolizing the dissolution of the ego and allowing you to drop into the wisdom of your heart and body.
Research shows that 68-86% of people report improvement in depression, anxiety, PTSD, and 35-50% rate it as one of the most spiritually significant experiences of their lives.
At Ananda Lodge, we work with San Pedro during the day to support nervous system regulation and deepen your connection with nature. Our ceremonies run from 8am-5:30pm, allowing you to be held by sunlight, feel the earth beneath you, and witness the beauty around you as part of your healing journey.
The extended time with the medicine (8-12 hours) gives you space to work with San Pedro's profound, empathogenic (heart-opening) qualities. San Pedro promotes unity with self, others, nature, and the greater spiritual universe. It reconnects you to your felt sense and somatic wisdom, allowing you to access your body's innate intelligence.
At Ananda Lodge, we operate with the highest level of integrity when serving medicine. The San Pedro is prepared with sacred reverence and prayer, using only the cactus—nothing else added.
Choosing the right retreat center is an important step in the healing process that should not be overlooked.
With a maximum of 8 participants and a dedicated team including an experienced Huachumero and trauma-informed somatic specialist, you receive personalized attention and care throughout your journey. This intimate setting allows for deep one-on-one support, immediate response to your needs, and space for your individual process to fully unfold.
Trauma-informed care is not a 'check the box' process at Ananda—it's a way of being woven into our entire Continuity of CARE process. Our entire team is trained in somatic, trauma-informed plant medicine facilitation and integration.
Work with Nikki Szeghalmi, who has dedicated 7 years exclusively to San Pedro practice, completed rigorous traditional diets, and trained under master teacher Bernhard Karshagen. Not a weekend facilitator—a true practitioner who lives in service to this medicine.
We believe that time is healing and time is medicine. Our 8-day immersion provides spacious time for ceremonies, rest, integration, and nervous system healing. The medicine needs time to settle before you return to daily life.
Ring in 2026 not with noise and distractions, but with sacred medicine, fire ceremony, and conscious intention. This is a unique opportunity to release what no longer serves and step into the new year from your heart.
On Day 7, you'll experience a 2-hour art therapy workshop designed to help you process and embody your medicine insights. Through creative expression, you'll be able to externalize your inner experience and discover new ways of understanding your journey.
Throughout your stay, you'll have daily beach walks, gentle yoga, and time in nature to support your nervous system as it integrates the profound shifts from ceremony. The beauty of the Costa Rican coast becomes part of your healing container.
Three ceremonies spaced for integration. Time for your nervous system to settle. Deep support before, during, and after.

Huachumero & Master Medicine Carrier
Nikki grew up just outside Toronto, Canada and currently lives nestled amongst the Andes in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Coming from a background of addiction and depression, she was called to Peru in 2018 to start working with her teachers Bernhard Karshagen and Chase Moore for a deep dive into her healing.
Nikki is trained in somatic trauma-informed plant medicine facilitation through Atira Tan and carries this wisdom through her presence and one-to-one care with guests. She is a balance of grit and softness, embodying permission for each guest to explore their unique experience with the medicine.
"With deep reverence for the magic that unfolds in ceremony and thereafter, she meets each individual where they're at. She loves to play with life and you'll often find her cracking jokes and laughing, seeking lightness and joy amidst the challenges of life."
Co-Founder & Trauma-Informed Facilitator

Have questions about San Pedro and this New Year’s immersion? We’re here to support your journey.
San Pedro (Huachuma) is a sacred cactus medicine that has been used for over 3,000 years by indigenous cultures for healing and spiritual purposes. Known as the "grandfather medicine," it works to heal traumatic imprints, reconnect you with your body's wisdom, and open your heart to profound compassion and connection.
San Pedro ceremonies are held during the day (8am–5:30pm) rather than at night, allowing you to be in nature and sunlight. The experience lasts 8–12 hours and is generally gentler and more heart-opening than ayahuasca. San Pedro also has fewer medication contraindications.
Yes! This retreat welcomes both first-time participants and those with previous San Pedro experience. We provide extensive preparation (3 sessions), trauma-informed facilitation throughout, dedicated facilitator support for personalized care, and comprehensive integration support.
You'll be in your second San Pedro ceremony during the day on December 31st. In the evening, we gather for dinner and a New Year's fire ceremony to consciously release 2025 and welcome 2026 with sacred intention and community.
Safety is our absolute priority. We maintain a maximum group size of 8 for personalized attention, provide comprehensive medical screening, work with highly experienced Huachumeros, offer trauma-informed facilitation by a dedicated team, and include extensive preparation and integration support.
