You've Worked With Ayahuasca Before

You're not a beginner. You've sat with the medicine and now you're ready to go deeper. This weekend is designed for those who want to advance their relationship with Ayahuasca and experience the profound healing power of the Shipibo tradition.

You Want Intimate, Personalized Care

You've been to larger retreat centers with 15-60 people and felt lost in the crowd. Here, with only 10 participants maximum, you'll receive genuine one-on-one time with Maestra Orfelinda and a 2:1 ratio of CARE team to guests.

What Makes This Experience Different

Truly Intimate Container

Most retreat centers host 15-60 people per retreat. At Ananda Lodge, we limit our weekends to just 10 participants. This means Maestra Orfelinda can spend genuine quality time with each person—not just during ceremony, but throughout meals, consultations, and informal moments. You're not a number. You're seen, known, and cared for.

Immersive Time With Your Maestra

In most centers, you only see the medicine carrier during ceremony. Here, Maestra Orfelinda is with you throughout your entire stay—sharing meals, offering individual consultations, and building a relationship with you. This immersive approach allows for deeper healing and more personalized care.

2:1 Care Ratio

With 5 experienced team members supporting 10 guests, you receive unprecedented levels of attention. Our trauma-informed CARE specialists are available for one-on-one sessions, integration support, and compassionate presence whenever you need it.

Authentic Shipibo Lineage

Maestra Orfelinda (Bawan Kater) comes from Pullcalpa, Peru and has dedicated decades to plant medicine dietas. She carries the ancient wisdom of the Shipibo-Conibo people, known worldwide as some of the most powerful healers. Her icaros (sacred healing songs) are medicine themselves.

Trauma-Informed Somatic Care

Our entire team is trained in trauma-informed somatic facilitation. We understand how the nervous system processes plant medicine experiences and how to support you through activation, release, and integration with compassion and attunement.

Luxurious Ocean-View Setting

Perched on the mountainside with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and jungle, Ananda Lodge offers a level of comfort rarely found in plant medicine spaces. Private chef-prepared meals, ocean-view suites, and thoughtful design details create an environment of safety and beauty.

Your Medicine Carriers & CARE Team

Maestra Orfelinda Sanancino Cauper

Shipibo Master Healer from Pullcalpa, Peru

Orfelinda's Shipibo name is Bawan Kater. A gentle and loving Maestra, she began drinking Ayahuasca at age 20, following in the footsteps of her grandfather who was a respected healer in their village. At just 10 years old, Orfelinda knew she was called to this path.

Her grandfather warned her the journey would not be easy—she would need to complete many years of plant medicine dietas to become a master healer. Orfelinda dedicated herself fully, completing multiple year-long dietas to earn her mastery.

She is known for her profound medicine songs (icaros), her compassionate and loving spirit, and her deep reverence for Ayahuasca and the plant spirits. Orfelinda's healing work is gentle yet powerful, opening pathways for transformation that honor each person's unique journey.

Michal - Sanken Koshi

Co-founder of Imago Community & Ceremonial Guide

A passionate student of the mystery and ancestral technologies of healing, Sanken walks an ancestral path with foundation in ceremonial work with plant sacraments. Through mentorship with his teachers, he preserves and honors the law of origin while complementing it with modern integration methods demanded by the present time.

Carrying two degrees in psychology and fascinated by decolonization and reprogramming of human consciousness, he adds a subtle academic approach to support growth and sustainable transformation. Initiated through Santo Daime tradition, he dove into deep shamanic study with Colombian Taitas. His diets with Peruvian Maestros and Brazilian Pajés, as well as initiations within Andean Cosmovision, brought the unique dance of symbol, song, word, and ritual that sustain the core of ceremonies he holds.

As an empathic medicine woman, Kimberly brings 15 years of experience in wellness, coaching, and working with plants. After experiencing corporate burnout, she turned to ancient wellness traditions and plant medicine for soul reconnection and transformation.

Rachael Babette

Trauma-Informed Plant Medicine Coach & Integration Guide

Rachael is an advocate for sacred plant medicines, an energy worker, and a holder of safe spaces. She began her personal journey with plant medicine in 2017, learning wellness modalities and working with psilocybin and therapy to heal herself.

With reverence for each person's potential, Rachael supports self-discovery and personal growth. She creates safe spaces for guests to explore their intentions and prepare their bodies and beings for deep medicine work.

The Medicine: Shipibo Ayahuasca

Oni, in Shipibo, is the name for the Ayahuasca brew. At Ananda Lodge, we operate with the highest level of integrity when serving medicine. The Ayahuasca brewed for our retreats is done with sacred reverence and prayer to provide deep healing for those who consume it.

The brew contains only two ingredients: the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and Psychotria viridis (chacruna) leaves. Nothing else is added. This is traditional Shipibo medicine in its purest form.

The Shipibo Healing Tradition

Following many years of intense dietas in the jungle, Shipibo healers are known to be some of the most highly skilled energetic surgeons in the world. Through the singing of their icaros (sacred healing songs), the curandera channels her connection with the medicine and plant and animal spirits to heal traumatic imprints and energetic blockages.

Through their singing, they guide the medicine to extract illness, repair the spirit, and harmonize the energy body. While Ayahuasca by itself can be considered deeply healing, it is the skill and level of mastery of the curandera that profoundly impacts the depth of healing.

The Shipibo-Conibo are indigenous people from the Peruvian Amazon, known as some of the most powerful healers in the world. They are deeply rooted in their spiritual beliefs of healing with plants and their reverence for plant and animal spirits. The Shipibo believe in the concept of an all-encompassing reality of oneness, evident in their icaros and traditional textiles (kenes).

What Guests Are Saying

Safe, powerful, transformative

"I am overwhelmed with deep gratitude for my experience at Ananda's ayahuasca retreat. I found Ananda after significant research. Having sat with the medicine ten years prior, I knew for this next journey I needed to find a Shipibo-led ceremony and program that would offer ALL of the components I believe are critical for a safe, meaningful, and integrated experience. I was confident I'd made the right choice after my first exploratory call with Kimberly, but my stay and experience far surpassed my expectations. Reflecting on the support and care everyone at Ananda provides brings me to (happy) tears. I actually did not know "trauma informed" could be more than a terminology. I did not know it was possible to feel so safe and emotionally held. Each team member adds so much empathy and wisdom in their own way that it's genuinely restored my faith in humanity. Everyone at Ananda truly embodies the care philosophy and upholds extremely mindful communication and energetic hygiene. Maestra Orfelinda and Tia Lucia guided our ceremonies with strength, protection, and love. I especially appreciate how available and accessible they were. We ate every meal with them and had the opportunity to sit one on one with them prior to each ceremony. This was an essential part of ensuring focused, individualized healing during ceremonies. For lack of a better word, Maestra's icaros and healing capabilities are simply magical. In addition to ceremonies, the program was perfectly planned with plenty of necessary down time, massages available, daily somatic yoga/movement, meditations, beach visits, and an art therapy class. Each day was special. While the people were the most amazing part of this retreat, I would also like to relay how beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, and supportive the property is. Ananda is beautifully designed, and it is obvious how much thought and care went into each area of the resort. With ocean views from the eco-friendly suites, you are constantly enveloped by nature while still enjoying luxury comforts - bedding, towels, soaps, and small elegant touches throughout - that keep you feeling cozy and relaxed. The food is incredible - abundant and healthy. Each meal was an absolute delight, and it was so nice to sit and share meals with the whole team. If you're called to sit with ayahuasca and share the concerns I had surrounding authenticity, environment, physical/spiritual/emotional safety, and integration: Ananda is the safe, respectful, authentic, and compassionate place to have a powerful shift."

— Stephanie, August 2025 Ayahuasca Guest

"The most incredible authentic Ayahuasca experience!!! Words cannot express how incredible and unique this place is. I have sat with Ayahuasca before but nothing compares to sitting with the Shipibo lineage. The icaros are soo incredible and healing. Ananda Lodge is amazing for those who are wanting DEEP healing. The group size is so unique at only 8 and allows for the ideal amount of space one needs to really go deep and heal. The support during and after ceremony is unmatched in the retreat industry. If you want to feel safe and supported you will not find it anywhere else like Ananda. You will be blown away by the love from Kimberly and her staff. It's beyond your imagination. The accommodations are equally beautiful. 5 stars are not enough for this special place."

— Scott, February 2025 Ayahuasca Guest

"I've been to a few retreats over the last few years and have done 14 ayahuasca ceremonies. This was my best retreat yet!! I cannot recommend this place enough. Every single detail was so organized and professional. I felt extremely safe at all times and taken care of in such a different way that I have NEVER felt before. Kimberly really cares about this work/healing and everyone who passes through. Since the retreats are limited to eight people, you really get that EXTRA care that you normally don't receive. The maestras were like none I have ever experienced. The one on one time with them was huge for me and helped me immensely with breakthroughs that I have been trying to work on for years. By the end of this retreat we were genuinely like a little family and bonds that I will never forget. Truly grateful to Kimberly and her team. A life changing experience."

— Jasmine, December 2024 Ayahuasca Guest

"Wow! What a life changing experience. I don't even know where to begin. Kimberly and Jason have created a magical facility. The work was very hard at times, and I couldn't have imagined going through it without all the love and support I received. Their team is amazing!! Kimberly, Sammy, and Nadia are probably the most loving and caring people I have ever been around. They are real. Maestra Orfelinda was amazing, patient, and very thorough. She is very knowledgeable. I have suffered, as well as caused many emotional traumas. Have been through many physical traumas and brain injury and have tried many different options. None have even come close to the healing and forgiveness I have received at Ananda. I would strongly recommend anyone with PTSD, brain injury, or trauma to check this place out."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this retreat suitable for beginners?

This weekend immersion is specifically designed for Level 2 participants—those who have worked with Ayahuasca before and want to deepen their medicine journey. If you're completely new to Ayahuasca, we recommend starting with our 8-day immersion which provides more extensive preparation and support for first-timers.

What if I've only done Ayahuasca once or twice?

If you've had 1-2 previous Ayahuasca experiences, you're welcome to join this weekend. During your journey consultation, we'll discuss your past experiences and ensure this retreat is the right fit for where you are in your journey.

How is this different from your 8-day Ayahuasca immersion?

The weekend format offers 2 ceremonies instead of 3, and is more condensed. It's perfect for experienced medicine workers who want to deepen their practice but can't take a full week off. The 8-day immersion provides more spacious time for preparation and integration and includes an additional ceremony.

Are there any medical contraindications?

Yes. Ayahuasca interacts with certain medications (especially SSRIs, MAOIs, and some heart medications) and is not suitable for people with certain medical conditions. During your journey consultation and intake process, we'll review your complete health history to ensure your safety.

What's included in the price?

Everything except airfare to Costa Rica and ground transportation. Your investment includes all accommodations, all meals, 2 Ayahuasca ceremonies, 1:1 sessions with both the Maestra and CARE team, group integration circles, pre-retreat preparation call, and post-retreat integration call. Group shuttle transportation from Liberia Airport can be purchased separately during registration.

How do I get to Ananda Lodge?

We fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR) in Costa Rica. Group shuttle transportation can be purchased during registration. The shuttle departs LIR at 12:30 PM on Friday for a 2:00 PM check-in at Ananda Lodge. On departure day (Monday), the shuttle leaves Ananda at 11:00 AM. We recommend booking flights for 3:00 PM or later, or arranging a personal shuttle service if you need earlier departure. Full travel details will be provided after booking.

What's your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens. Our cancellation policy will be shared during your journey consultation and outlined in your booking agreement. We recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment.
